ANKARA FABRIC

Ankara Fabric is a major part of Nigerian fashion and is said to have originated from a girl named Ankara who lived a true Cinderella story, soon discovered by Nigerian Fashion Designers. Ankara fabric is usually made of 100% cotton, having good strength and being tightly woven. This traditional fabric has infiltrated the fashion world.

Below are some shots taken and edited to display ankara fabrics on diverse fashions and styles.

In Africa, hairstyles can be more intricate and fashionable. Historically, Nigerians hairstyles symbolized certain things. Ankara fabrics can be complimented with Nigerian cultural hair style, which makes the look more traditional.

The posture of the two models were directed so as to display the fitting of the ankara style on their body  and the blend of the hairstyle on the well fitted Ankara styles. The model in the blue atire, backed the camera to show the back design of the ankara wear and she also displayed her hair style by turning her head towards the camera. The two pictures were edited and brought together so that the both fashion styles can be compared.

Blend of Ankara with 100% Cotton

Nigerian designers now use Ankara with a blend of 100% cotton to make trendy designs. It is eye catching the way they infused Ankara with the chic Western-influenced designs.

The well posed models were displaying how relaxed the blend of ankara fabrics and cotton material were on their shapes by bending with their hands on their waist. The pictures were edited and brought together with photoshop to compare the two different styles.

The above pictures were designed and edited using adobe Photoshop. This photo editing package was used to crop out images from their original background with the help of a polygonal lasso tool and magic wound tool; Horizontal type tool was used for the text; tools like healing brush tool, sponge tool and blur tool were used for modification of images; fonts like Black magic, Tron, Ruritania, French Script MT, Beyond wonderland were used for the textual designs. Photoshop was also used to crop, modify and blend three images that made up the banner. Apart from a little filtering, the fashions worn in the above images were not graphically altered.
